Rosemary Turkey Stew
- 6 cups water
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 cups brown rice
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- ½ package (or 8 ounces) of frozen veggie combination (broccoli, carrots and cauliflower)
Mix ingredients and cook as you normally would for a human diet. Combine the rosemary in with the ground turkey while you are cooking it.
This recipe varies, you can add in zucchini, spinach, vitamins and whatever else you think your pup might like. Just remember the ratios of nutrients your dog, generally speaking, needs.
Homemade Doggie Chili
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 cup kidney beans, drained
- 1 cup black beans, drained
- 1 cup of carrots, diced
- ½ cup tomato paste
- 4 cups chicken broth
Cook & dice chicken, and then add all ingredients to a large pot and heat for about 10 minutes.
This homemade dog food recipe will be good left in the fridge for up to 5 days.
We like treats right? Cookies, ice cream, pie…. Well dogs like treats too, and they can certainly have them. Luckily, it’s easy to add in nutrients to homemade dog treats and your pup will never know!
Peanut Butter Treats
- 2 cups of flour (white or wheat)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter (be sure that you get natural peanut butter, if it’s not then sugar and salt will be added, which you don’t want).
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- ½ tablespoon of fish oil
- 1 ½ cups of water
Directions:
1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2 Mix the flour and oats together in a large mixing bowl. Pour in one cup of water and blend until smooth. Add in the peanut butter, honey, and fish oil and mix until all the ingredients are well blended.
3 Slowly add the water until the mixture has a thick and doughy consistency.
4 Lightly flour a cooking surface. Roll the dough onto the cooking surface to create a 1/4 inch thick sheet.
5 Use a cookie cutter to create shapes. Place the cookies onto a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes.
6 Allow to cool completely before feeding.
Fruit Parfait
- ½ cup plain, non fat yogurt
- ½ cup of strawberries, diced
- ½ cup of blueberries, diced
- ½ cup of applesauce
Blend all ingredients together and serve in small amounts, this is more of a treat, but filled with great nutrients.
